What's the story with these guitars? I'm talking about the 325/12. Why were they made? Do they differ in any way to the originals? Does the company still make instruments exclusively for certain markets?

Yes. Like the 325/12 models made for Japan in the 90's, the new models produced by RIC this year (310C64FG, 310C64JG, 360C63FG, 1999FG) for the Japanese market were also manufactured in limited numbers. Nice additions to the Rickenbacker range.

We've done this kind of thing sometimes to help control the gray market imports but in this case, it's to recognize the 60th anniversary of our Japanese distributor, Shinseido Ltd.

There's also a very small quantity of special instruments available only at the grand opening of their two new superstores in Tokyo.

Is there an online source for pictures of these Japanese market guitars?

Let me correct one model in my earlier post above. Make that 310C64FG a 310C64MB. As wozza posted in the link above, there are other colors available for the 360C63 and the 1999. More models and colors!

Whoa! That 360C63FG is to die for, but the price converts to more than $4200. I hope that there are plenty of wealthy Rick fans over there.

I think these are very nice guitars. And I hope that in the future the 310 will return as a standard model at a moderate price for the worldwide market.
